Candid shot of custom and one-of-a-kind jeweler Roberta Marasca in her studio during the 2012 Chatham Arts Studio Tour talking with customer and iPhoneographer Shirl Braley of TheDailyGrunge.com.
I was siting with my iPhone in my lap and shot several candid images. I liked this the best. I call it “Jewelry Intervention.” I got the idea from hearing a previous customer tell Roberta that she had a “hair intervention” appointment sometime. I was pretty much tuned out during that conversation, but I liked the sound of “hair intervention.”
I cropped the image, applied a tilt-shift effect to bring attention to their faces creating a slight blur to the rest of the image and added a border to help disguise my pant leg in the lower left of the image. I didn’t want to crop so much that Roberta’s left arm would be removed. The wide transparent border helped.
