Archaeological historian Glenn Lazarus of Briar Chapel, North Carolina and four other Briar Chapel residents, Monica Lazarus, Alan Rosenfeld, Maxine Rosenfeld, and I (Merle Braley) found this old “flue-cured” tobacco barn located on a remote undeveloped part of the Newland property.
At 36 seconds into the video you can see where a shed roof had been attached to the side of the barn. This would have been for protection from the sun for the workers.
Recorded and produced by Merle Braley
Shortly after finding this tobacco barn we found the Missing Homestead at Briar Chapel.
