Founder of B.U.T.T.? There’s got to be a good story BEHIND this one.
Found this sign yesterday on a walk with Shirley Braley along the bank of the Haw River in Bynum, North Carolina.
The sign reads:
DAN’S TAKE OUT – In Honor of Dan Blanchette “The Tubing Man” and Founder of B.U.T.T. (Bynum Union of Transcendental Tubers).

Dan loved tubing. Took everyone with him that showed up. He told us where to get tractor intertubes. And basically turned this corner of the world on to floating. He also set up a Facebook page for @B.U.T.T. He was a jokester and a pun-meister and all around good guy to hang out with. He passed away in November of 2012 suddenly. Needless to say we still miss him and think of him often.
